Law group welcomes new assistant professor
The Law Group is proud to welcome Dr MJ (Pepa) Plana Casado as Assistant Professor of Law at the Social Science Group (SSG) of Wageningen University & Research.

At WUR, Plana Casado coordinates the Comparative Food Law Course and is a lecturer of the Food Law Course, organised by the Law Group. She is also a research member of the OBD, and co-director of the University of Barcelona's Master in Food Ethics & Law (MAED).
Her research revolves around food, drugs and biotechnology legislation. Using a holistic approach, her research encompasses relevant underlying issues such as digital technologies (i.e. e-commerce and big data), ethics in public procurement (i.e. sustainability in school lunch programs), and food waste and taxation.
About Pepa Plana Casado
Dr Plana Casado was a post-doctoral researcher at the Bioethics & Law Observatory (OBD) of the University of Barcelona and holds a PhD in Law & Political Science. She conducted research visits at internationally renowned institutions such as Harvard Law School's Food Law & Policy Clinic, the Berman Institute of Bioethics at Johns Hopkins University and the Università di Bologna’s CIRSFID.
Her research and education interests focus on European and US Food Law, including e-foods, disruptive production and consumption patterns, and food safety law enforcement.
