Letter to WUR-students about the coronavirus crisis

Dear students, yesterday, Friday 13 March, we have sent you information on what the announced governmental measures to combat the Coronavirus crisis mean for our education. This letter contains one important correction on yesterday’s letter.

After discussion with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW) yesterday, it is now allowed for (bachelor and master) thesis and internship students to continue their work at any of the chairgroups or Wageningen Research (WR) institutes if that work cannot be done from home. This also includes thesis examination. Chairholders, (thesis) supervisors and labmanagers should ensure the health and safety of students while continuing their work at our labs and other experimental rooms/facilities.

We ask you to limit your physical presence at WUR campus (and other WUR premises) to the activities that are necessary for thesis and internship work. We have also advised chairholders and thesis supervisors not to start new thesis and internship projects that require physical presence at WUR buildings.

Our apologies for the possible confusion caused by the rapid sequence of messages, but this seems to be almost inherent to (the start of) a crises as the one we are in. We do think this change allows our many bachelor and master students and interns to limit study delay, without facing unacceptable health risks.

Kind regards,

Arthur Mol, Rector Magnificus

Arnold Bregt, Dean of Education
