Associate professor Martijn Duineveld was living and working on a roof in Amsterdam this summer with landscape architect Harro de Jong for the project ‘Rooftop Residency’.

Rooftops are slowly being turned from black into green. Organizations We The City and Pop-up City decided to kickstart the development of rooftops by working out an overarching vision on the roofscape of Amsterdam Southeast.

Rooftop Residency is an expedition on the rooftops of Amsterdam Southeast with the aim to create a vision for the roofscape of Amsterdam’s largest transformation area. Harro de Jong and Martijn Duineveld resided on the roofs of buildings in the Amstel III neighbourhood in Amsterdam Southeast from Sunday 22 August until August 29, 2021.
