Martin Baptist of Wageningen Marine Research has been selected as one of the final three contestants for the prestigious Prins Friso Engineers Award, which is awarded by the Koninklijk Instituut van Ingenieurs (KIVI) every year.

For the title 'Engineer of the Year 2017' KIVI takes into consideration engineers who distinguish themselves in their work by their expertise, innovative capacity, entrepreneurship and societal impact.

Apart from Martin, the other finalists are: Rolf Hut, researcher and lecturer at TU Delft and Rick Scholte, founder and managing director at Sorama B.V.

On 19 April, during the Day of the Engineer at TU Delft, a jury of experts combined with a public vote will determine the winner of the Engineer of the Year Award.

From Friday 10 March onwards, the finalists' profiles will be online at and the public vote will begin. From that moment on, we will campaign for as many votes as possible.
