On Monday 15 February 2016 a mini-symposium on “Dynamics of plant adaptation” will be organized by the Horticulture and Product Physiology group.
Time and location:
9:30 AM – 1:00 PM
Wageningen Campus - Radix building 107 - room C091 (Radix-Mid)

The physiological effects of abiotic factors on plants are commonly studied under constant climate conditions. However, in practice plants are faced with continuously changing conditions. This mini-symposium will provide a unique opportunity to get an overview of the dynamics of plant responses to fluctuating climate conditions.

Programme:

9.30 coffee

10.00 Welcome by Leo Marcelis (WU, Horticulture and Product Physiology)

10.05 Tracy Lawson (Plant Phenomics Lab, University of Essex, UK)
Effects of fluctuating light on photosynthesis and stomatal behaviour: impacts on carbon gain and water use efficiency

10.45 Shizue Matsubara (Plant Sciences (IBG-2), Forschungszentrum Jülich, Germany)
Transcriptomic profiling of acclimation to fluctuating light: Focus on downstream genes in photosynthesis

11.25 coffee

11:40 Steven Driever (WU, Crops Systems Analysis)
Adaptations of carbon metabolism and electron transport to a dynamic environment

12:20 Jeremy Harbinson (WU, Horticulture and Product Physiology)
Genetic variation for acclimation to fluctuating light in arabidopsis

13:00 Closure
