Since this spring there is national collaboration on Research Data Management. Wageningen UR Library is actively participating in the Coordination Point Research Data Management (LCRDM), being the chair of the working group Awareness / Engagement. This helps to include national discussions and findings into the RDM discussions which take place within Wageningen UR. Vice versa, it brings Wageningen UR views and visions on RDM into the national debate.

The LCRDM was founded by SURF, following a request of the SOV (Steering Committee on Research amd Valorisation) of the Association of Universities in the Netherlands (VSNU), SURF took up a coordinating and facilitating role in developing national Research Data Managent (RDM) strategy.

The LCRDM's mission is to prepare, facilitate and monitor the development of RDM policy for scientific research in the Netherlands. This translates in the vision that RDM will be a natural and integral part of research in the Dutch Universities in 2020. The vision of the LCRDM is in line with the Amsterdam Call for Action on Open Science, which was approved by the EU ministers of Education and Science in May 2016.

The call for national collaboration was first heard on an RDM seminar organized by NWO in September 2014. Following this seminar, the SOV and SURF discussed the need for national collaboration on Research Data Management. Surf took the initiative of taking RDM in the Netherlands to a next level as part of its Sustainable Data Innovation Programme, and collaborates closely with national partners like e.g. 4TU.Centre for Research Data.

Since this summer the LCRDM is active with five working groups: Facilities and Data infrastructure, Legal aspects and ownership, Financial aspects, Research support and Engagement (see: Road Map). More information on the agendas of the working groups can be found on the LCRDM Wiki pages.

Save the date: on December 1, 2016 the LCRDM, UKB working group on RDM and Wageningen UR Library organize a workshop/seminar on "RDM Policy and Practices" in Impulse Wageningen UR. If you want more information on the LCRDM or the workshop, please contact Jacquelijn Ringersma.
