At the request of the Centre for Genetic Resources, The Netherlands, the Foundation for Rare Farm Animals (SZH) and the AOC-Oost and with financing from the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality, the Wageningen UR Library has put together a documentation database: Kennisbank Zeldzame Landbouwhuisdieren (Knowledge base Farm Animal Genetic Resources).

The Knowledge base with information over rare Dutch breeds is especially aimed at a broad target group in education from primary through post-academic education. Associations of hobby breeders also form a target group of the knowledge base. What is unique about the database is that users can select the level (primary, secondary or higher) the publication will be used for. Using 'Expanded search', users can also select animal type, subject and level, among other search criteria.
