The paper titled “Multimodal Network Design for Sustainable Household Plastic Recycling” wins TI Food and Nutrition (TIFN) prize.

Every year, TI Food and Nutrition (TIFN) awards special prizes to recognize the best scientists and scientific achievements and to highlight the societal and industrial impact of the research carried out. The TI Food and Nutrition Prizes are presented at the Annual Conference.

Among the three nominated publications in the scheme Food Chain Sustainability and Dynamics, the paper titled “Multimodal Network Design for Sustainable Household Plastic Recycling” won the prize for 2013. This paper is authored by Bing X, Groot JJ, Bloemhof-Ruwaard JM and Van der Vorst JGAJ, published in “ International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics Management, (43 - 5/6), 452 - 477. ” Xiaoyun Bing is a PhD student in the Operations Research Group supervised by Jacqueline Bloemhof and Jack van der Vorst.

This paper is based on the research conducted within the TIFN project SD001 Post-Consumer Packaging Recycling.
