Participants needed: healthy females for a study on B-vitamins and health
We are looking for healthy females between 18-28 years old that exercise often (>3 times a week) or not so often.
What do you have to do?
- Visit the university for a screening day and an exercise test (2 hrs)
- After inclusion in the study, visit the university on two consecutive days for a study day
- 1x for blood samples, muscle tests using near-infrared light and short occlusions of the blood flow, and an exercise test (4 hrs)
- 1x (0.5 hr) for blood samples
- Collect your urine for 1 day
- Wear a small motion detector during the period between the two study days
- Make small adjustments in your dietary- and physical activity pattern the day before and during the study days
You are eligible for participation if you:
- Are healthy
- Have a body mass index (BMI) between 18.5 – 25
- Are not pregnant, not lactating and are not using hormonal contraceptive medications (with the exception of the birth control pill)
- Do not smoke regularly (>5 cigarettes per week)
- Do not use drugs and smoke during the study
- Do not follow a veganistic lifestyle (i.e. exclude the consumption of animal- or animal-derived food products);
- Do not have a (sports)injury that hampers your physical performance;
- Did not recently used (<4 months) sport supplements (e.g. EPO or anabolic drugs)
- Are not consuming food supplements containing B-vitamins on a daily basis (e.g. multivitamins, B-vitamin complexes)
- Did not recently (<2 months) donate a large volume of blood
- Do not participate in other clinical trials during the study period
What do you get?
