Predicting energy consumption in cities with aerial and street view images.
The recent article "Predicting Residential Electricity Consumption Using Aerial and Street View Images" (Applied Energy) showcases innovative ways to predict energy consumption solely based on publicly available images — aerial and street view. It shows that the performance of the modelling tool developed is comparable to conventional models based on public tabular data sets, and that spatially aggregating the predictions further improves the results. This article is a milestone in the development of the Integrated Urban Complexity model into a 3-dimensional setting.
