Lonneke Janssen Duijghuijsen gave an overview of her PhD project on “Novel proteins, exercise and intestinal permeability” during two oral presentations at the first Protein for Life Conference held in Ede on the 23rd-26th of October 2016. This conference was organized by the IPOP Customized Nutrition project from Wageningen University and Research with a focus on the multi-targeted approach needed to challenge the predicted global protein shortage.

She presented the significance of developing in vivo and in vitro methods to study the possible health effects of (novel) proteins in relation to intestinal integrity.
