Rabobank supports the Wageningen Green Student Challenge with 100,000 euros
On the day of the anniversary of Wageningen University & Research, Rabobank donated a sum of 100,000 euros via its Banking for Food Inspiration Centre. On 9 March, Jacqueline Pieters of the B4F Inspiration Centre presented Louise Fresco, President of WUR, with a metre-long cheque.
The amount is intended to help set up challenging student competitions focused on increasing the sustainability of food production in an urban environment. In 2018, the Green Student Challenge will focus on the design of an urban greenhouse in Amsterdam. This sponsorship donation is also intended to assist with the next challenge in 2020.
This year, 23 student teams from 10 different countries will go head to head in the competition. The task of developing a sustainable urban greenhouse can be carried out using technical, social, and economic innovations. On 28 August, the results of this year’s competition will be announced.
