The finding of a two-headed porpoise in the North Sea caused quite a stir in national and international media. The porpoise turns out to be a conjoined twin, which died shortly after birth.

The porpoise twins were caught by fishermen in the North Sea on 30 May 2017. Biologists of Wageningen Marine Research (Mardik Leopold), the Natural History Museum Rotterdam and NIOZ studied the photos and described their findings in an article:
