The Supervisory Board of Wageningen University & Research (WUR) has appointed Rens Buchwaldt (55) as a member of the Executive Board, starting 1 September 2017. Buchwaldt will be responsible for the Finance, Business & Services portfolio as the successor of Tijs Breukink, who is stepping down after three terms.

Buchwaldt was Chief Operational Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Royal FloraHolland from 2006 to 2016. Before that, he served as CFO of Koninklijke Ahrend. Buchwaldt started his career by fulfilling various international roles at NCR Corp (Europe and the United States), Bell & Howell (United States) and IconMedialab (Sweden) respectively.

The Supervisory Board sees in Buchwaldt an administrator with a talent for achieving long-term goals. The president of the Supervisory Board, Job Cohen, is pleased with Buchwaldt’s appointment. 'He is a unifying factor who likes to operate at all organisational levels. He has extensive experience in the private sector and demonstrates strong social involvement. This will benefit the public-private partnerships that make up the WUR strategy.'
