Title: The microfoundations of ambidexterity for corporate social responsibility: a study on the brokering behaviors of sustainability managers

Authors: Maria Carmela Annosi, Elisa Mattarelli, Antonio Messeni Petruzzelli, and Domenico Dentoni.

Short abstract

Although recent  literature studies have emphasized the fundamental role of sustainability managers, they have overlooked to analyze their individual contributions to CSP, hence offering only a limited understanding of this phenomenon. Most often, sustainability managers are middle managers with limited power and access to resources, who struggle, in their everyday work, to bridge moral and instrumental logics, both within the boundaries of their organizations, as well as in their interactions with external stakeholders (Visser and Crane, 2010). In this study we ask: how do sustainability managers’ behaviors constitute the microfoundations for ambidexterity for CSP?
