Senior Research Associate Vacancy about household energy practices in Southeast Asia

The DEMAND centre in the UK and the Environmental Policy Group in the Netherlands are looking for a research associatethat will investigate household energy practices in Southeast Asia: convergence/divergence of energy demand in the Global South.

The purpose of this 12 month research project (part-time applications welcome) is to account for differences and similarities in the circulation of elements and practices relating to comfort, lighting and refrigeration in Southeast Asia. We are looking for a suitably qualified social scientist who has completed a PhD, has some experience of academic writing, is familiar with relevant literature (e.g. on social practices/consumption/political economy), can work independently and creatively, and is able  to carry out conceptual and empirical research, including fieldwork in Thailand and Vietnam. The researcher will be based at the DEMAND centre in Lancaster and working closely with the Environmental Policy group at Wageningen University.
