Successful Indonesian WUR alumna won International Award on Environment

We are proud that dr. Aretha Aprilia has received the "50 Most Impactful Green Leaders (Global Listing)" citation. She was awarded for actively working on energy conservation and efficiency, waste management and environmental issues.

This award gives her the motivation to continue working on advocating energy conservation, use of renewable energy, and sustainable waste management.

Indonesian Woman Received International Award on Environment
 
Mumbai, India – The "50 Most Impactful Green Leaders (Global Listing)" citation was awarded in India to an Indonesian woman - Dr. Aretha Aprilia, who is the sole representative of Indonesia for this category.
 
The selection of awardees was conducted independently by the World Sustainability in the context of 'World of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Day' on February 18, which was further selected by Judges who are professionals in the environmental sector from various countries. The criteria adopted for this category is energy conservation and efficiency; waste management; leadership in environmental issues, as well as participation in raising public awareness of the environment.
 
"This award gives me the motivation to continue working on advocating energy conservation, use of renewable energy, and sustainable waste management. I was astounded when being contacted by the committee that I would be awarded this award. I dedicate this award to my fellow Indonesian environmentalists," said Aretha, who holds a doctorate degree from Kyoto University Japan and has worked at the United Nations Environment Programme in Bangkok and Paris. Recipient of the "Young Caring Professional Award - Martha Tilaar" and nominee of the "Most Powerful Woman award" by Her World magazine in 2013 added that other recipients of this award were senior professionals and CEOs of various institutions in the field of environment who are based in England, Germany , Japan, India, Egypt, Malaysia, and other countries.
 
Aretha currently serves as Lead for Community Renewable Energy program in CDM Smith Jakarta; the Program Management Consultant for renewable energy financing program by Millennium Challenge Account Indonesia. She actively writes articles about the environment for the national and international media, reviewer of several international peer-reviewed journals, had partnered on research projects with Tokyo University, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Mitsubishi Research Institute, and has conducted research on waste management in Jakarta that has been referenced by researchers from within and outside the country. Aretha is an MSc alumnus of the Department of Urban and Environmental Management, Wageningen University.
 
The award ceremony "50 Most Impactful Green Leaders (Global Listing)" was held on February 18, 2017 at the Taj Lands End hotel Mumbai, India. The Judges who determined the award recipients include:

Dr. Bhattia, chairman of the World CSR Day conveyed in his speech, "The 50 Most Impactful Green Award Leaders (Global Listing) is given to those who are dedicated to CSR issues and the environment. They are the leaders and agents of transformation that support people's efforts to contribute to environmental conservation. "
