Third SustainaBul prize in a row for Wageningen University
Wageningen University has won the SustainaBul award for the third time in a row. The award is presented to the most sustainable knowledge institute (university or university of applied sciences) in the Netherlands.
This is the fourth time the SustainaBul is awarded since its establishment by the network of local student organizations Morgen. The universities and universities of applied sciences taking part are assessed by students on the basis of a questionnaire delving into various sustainability criteria. The questionnaire does not only focus on water consumption, refuse processing and CO2 emissions, but also on student and staff involvement and the transparency of communication about sustainability policy.
From sustainability to CSR
Fennet van de Wetering, Sustainability Coordinator at Wageningen UR, is delighted with the result: “Every year, we make a conscious effort to ensure that our operational management becomes more sustainable. This ranges from an incentive energy programme to the use of recyclable coffee beakers. As a result, sustainability is not just the responsibility of Facilities and Services, but a matter for the entire organisation. We are progressing from sustainability to Corporate Social Responsibility on every front. Take our approach to scientific integrity and the aim to be energy-neutral by 2030, for example.”
