More images were recently added to Wageningen UR Image Collections: drawings of plant diseases, drawings of nematodes and portraits of rectors and professors of Wageningen University.

Drawings of plant diseases and plant pests (1946-1955)

The 1039 drawings were made at the research station “Proefstation voor de Groenten- en Fruit(teelt) onder glas” in Naaldwijk. They were used to advice gardeners and farmers. Most of the drawings were made by Suzon van Bovene-Beynon. The drawings focus on three sorts of crops: vegetables, fruit and cut flowers and four kinds of diseases: pests, viruses, pathogens and disorders.

Drawings of Johannes Govertus de Man (1850 -1930)

Johannes Govertus de Man (1850–1930) was a Dutch biologist and a pioneer in Nematology. He described nematodes from all continents, but also paid ample attention to the nematodes from his near surroundings, Zeeland and the North Sea. Over time the Laboratory of Nematology has collected several of De Man's drawings and made them available on their website. The drawings have now been added to Wageningen UR Image Collections.

Portraits of rectors and professors in the Aula

Photos of 39 portraits of some rectors and professors of Wageningen University have been added to Wageningen UR Image Collections. The original oil paintings are on display in the Aula of Wageningen UR. The portrait collection starts with Cornelis J.M. Jongkindt. Jongkindt was  the first director of the State Agricultural College in Wageningen in 1876, as well as a teacher in agriculture. After Wageningen became an institute for academic education in 1918, a new rector was appointed every school year.

After 1956 rectors were appointed for a period of years, quite often at the end of their scientific career. From the total of 42 rectors only 23 are portrayed. The rest of the portraits are from professors who were appointed at Wageningen University.
