Users satisfied about services

The Library would like to know the client’s opinion. Therefore a user survey was held again this year. 2,100 staff and students of Wageningen UR were asked to complete the web form and the response was 24%. The overall score was just over that of the 2004 survey: Users are still content with the services offered by library staff. Also the Library as “place to be” scored well in general, even though there were complaints about noise in some library locations.

Research has shown that some users still find it difficult to search for and find information. Making the right choices from the many search options in the Wageningen Desktop Library is tricky sometimes. It is also not always clear which information is reliable. Clients indicate that necessary improvements have been made during the past year.

During the next period a lot of attention will therefore be paid also to making the digital library more user friendly. Also, more time will be spent on explaining the various search systems during the various library instructions. The difference between reliable and unreliable information will be discussed more specifically.

Some remarks from the survey have shown that not all the Library’s facilities are sufficiently known. Therefore more publicity will be given to matters like: the possibility of making suggestions for new purchase by users (and how to do this) and off-campus access.
