Vici-beurs awarded to Dr. Fijs van Leeuwen
Dr. Fijs van Leeuwen, head of the Interventional Molecular Imaging Laboratory at the LUMC and guest of BioNanoTechnology, has received a Vici grant from NWO section TTW.
With this highest individual grant, Dr. Van Leeuwen and his team will focus on the development of techniques and imaging tracers to improve the surgery of prostate cancer. By combining fluorescent and radioactive tracers, and by improving the technical applications of imaging systems and navigation-based robotic surgery, it will be possible to remove tumors more complete and save delicate anatomies surrounding the tumor.
