The World Economic Forum yesterday announced their European Food Innovation Hub will be established in Wageningen, in partnership with FoodValleyNL. “Wageningen University & Research fully supports the establishment of a European Food Innovation Hub, and welcomes it in Wageningen”, says Arthur Mol, rector magnificus of WUR, “We are looking forward to collaborate and together shape the future of food.”

Foodvalley NL will be the leading European Hub in a new, worldwide network of Food Innovation Hubs that are being catalyzed and supported in Africa, Latin America and Asia. The collaboration was officially announced on Monday November 23, in a pre-event in support of the 2021 UN Food Systems Summit.

One of the most powerful contributions of the Food Innovation Hubs initiative, catalyzed by WEF and partners, will be to link those who need technology and innovations, those who are developing it, and those who might finance and scale it, across traditional boundaries. The goal is to bring solutions that can address systemic challenges.

As one of the founding partners of FoodvalleyNL, WUR focusses on the mission To explore the potential of nature to improve the quality of life. WUR combines fundamental and applied knowledge in order to contribute to resolving important questions in the domain of healthy food and living environment. Over 6,500 employees (over 5,500 fte) and more than 12,000 students are inspired by nature, society, and technology and tackle the issues with an open and curious perspective. This inspiration has enabled WUR to be amazed, develop knowledge, and apply this knowledge internationally for over a century.

WUR seeks to find the answers to the global challenges in agrifood & ecology together; with other knowledge institutes, companies, NGOs and governments. Therefore, at Wageningen Campus, over 180 other organisations find their inspiration in science based solutions to these challenges. Let us bring these potential solutions into every day practice globally with WEF.
