Wageningen University appoints Professor of Land Use Planning

Wageningen University has appointed Dr Leonie B. Janssen-Jansen as Professor of Land Use Planning as from 1 June 2015. Prof. Janssen will succeed Prof. Arnold van der Valk, the previous incumbent of the chair, and Prof. Adri van den Brink, who filled the position temporarily.

Prof. Leonie Janssen-Jansen (Deventer, 1975) studied Urban and Regional Planning at Utrecht University and was awarded a PhD in Regional Planning in 2004. After her PhD, she conducted research at the University of Amsterdam with a grant she had acquired from the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO). She also spent a number of years teaching as an Assistant/Associate Professor at the University of Amsterdam and from 2011 onwards, at the University of Ulster in Great Britain. She is a popular guest lecturer at several universities, including the Universities of Portland State, Columbia (New York), British Columbia (Vancouver) and Liverpool.

The focus of the Land Use Planning Group is on increasing knowledge of landscapes as social-ecological systems, serving as a basis for spatial planning and sustainable land use.
