AChemS 2025 – the annual conference on chemical senses
SSEB was represented by Birgit van Dijk and Sanne Boesveldt, at the annual AChemS - Association for Chemoreception Sciences meeting, in Bonita Springs, Florida.
Birgit presented her work from the COVORTS study, on persistent chemosensory dysfunction after COVID-19 and its association with quality of life and eating behavior; while Sanne showcased work by PhD student Xinmeng Yang (co-authored by SSEB members Liesbeth Zandstra, Yanyang Huang and Paul Smeets) who explored the neural mechanisms underlying odor-guided food choices. We both received good attendance and useful input.
Overall, AChemS always gives a lot to take home: science insights are already making their way into the paragraphs of current papers and new perspectives are shaping what's next. And beyond the scientific content, AChemS is about networking, taking advantage of the beautiful location in sunny Florida, sharing drinks at the pool or beach, floating in the lazy river, and finally dancing your socks off with colleagues. It was a blast!
