During the NRO (Nationaal Regieorgaan Onderwijsonderwijs) DeepDive conference, a conference on educational innovations in Higher and vocational education, Judith Gulikers (ELS), facilitated a session on assessment in transdisciplinary learning environments.

She shed a scientific light on the challenges and opportunities of assessment student learning in learning environments in which students learn with and from diverse disciplines and external stakeholders.

Arno Kamphuis (IT teacher, Utrecht University of Applied Sciences) followed up with a practical example of their assessment in the IT program.

After these introductions, the audience went into a “deep dive” facilitated by Sabine Uijl (EWUU) en Ilja Boor (UvA). They further elaborated on the scientific and practical challenges and opportunities of assessment in transdisciplinary learning environments. The topic resonated very well with the audience and opened up many new ideas and initiatives for using assessment to foster learning in a variety of transdisciplinary learning environments.
