Choose the right journal with the WUR Journal Browser
The WUR Journal Browser is a practical publishing tool for researchers. It contains data for more than 38,000 journals. You can use it to choose a high-quality journal for your research. The Journal Browser lists the Open Access publishing options and discounts for each journal. You can often publish Open Access for free.
Open Access publishing
With the WUR Journal Browser you can select a journal to publish Open Access for free or at reduced cost. You can choose from more than 11,000 journals with Open Access agreements. These have been negotiated by WUR and Universiteiten van Nederland (UNL, formerly known as VSNU). If you would like to use an agreement, please check the Journal Browser – section APC discount – to see if you fulfill the conditions. Self-archiving (green Open Access)
The WUR Journal Browser also gives information about green Open Access. This means you self-archive your article in the WUR repository Research@WUR and make it accessible to everyone. You can do this either by depositing a PDF of your published article through the Taverne Amendment after a 6-month embargo period (preferred route) or by self-archiving your article's peer reviewed and accepted version after the publisher's embargo period.
Journal metrics
Besides information about a journal's Open Access status, the Journal Browser also includes commonly used journal metrics. You can look up if a journal has a JCR Journal Impact Factor and to which Quartile the journal belongs. Only the latest Impact Factor is shown. You can also check the Scopus Journal Metrics, including the SJR, SNIP and CiteScore. Click on the values to link through to the Scopus Source page where metrics are explained. The Journal Browser also lists the number of citations from and publications by WUR authors for each journal.
Open Access policies of journals (Sherpa/Romeo)
The WUR Journal Browser displays the latest version of the Sherpa/Romeo information. Sherpa/Romeo is an online resource that aggregates and presents publisher and journal Open Access policies. These include self-archiving permissions, publication conditions, (copy)rights, embargo periods and allowed Creative Commons licences. Sherpa/Romeo also shows which journals allow preprints.
