Circularity in agricultural production
How can we develop a sustainable food and agriculture that is far better integrated within the world economy at large and meets the challenges of health, environment, climate and affordability?
That pressing question was discussed during the third Mansholt Lecture, which Wageningen University & Research held on 19 September 2018 in Brussels.
Louise O. Fresco presented the vision that natural resource use and emissions associated with modern food systems can be substantially reduced by shifting towards a circular food system. We – farmers, citizens, policy makers, industry – may once again be on the eve of a radical shift in our European food system, in this case towards a modern circular food system.
We look back on an inspiring meeting with good discussions about the need for circularity in agricultural production.
