Cover story of Marine Drugs journal by Mert Gokalp on sponge aquaculture
On January 5th a paper of Mert Gokalp and his coauthors was published in the journal Marine Drugs. The article is entitled: Development of an Integrated Mariculture for the Collagen-Rich Sponge Chondrosia reniformis. The study tested novel methods to culture the sponge in proximity to floating fish cages. The study is a first successful step towards production of sponge collagen in an integrated aquaculture system.
