A web search for vegetable germplasm for use in research or breeding is not easy. There is a lot of information at many different places , and once the material has been found, the question remains whether it is actually available. For potato and lettuce, this problem will soon be history. For these crops we have developed so-called “crop portals” that will guide the visitor to sources of information and/or material, and where experiences can be shared.

In the portals you will find, amongst others, an overview of collections and how they can be approached. They provide an overview of the databases that can be used to identify material and help you find information about the plant characteristics where you are looking for, such as disease resistance.

However, most important is that the portals provide a platform for sharing experiences, learning from each other, and in that way improving the portals continuously. Therefore we ask you to leave your opinion and share your knowledge in the feedback boxes that you can find on most pages of the portals.

So, please visit the portals for potato and lettuce, and let us know what you think!
