Detect deforestation faster with new method: 'Within days'
At the 2021 Climate Conference COP 26 in Glasgow, British Prime Minister Johnson calls it a "milestone": the promise to end deforestation by 2030. That's a noble goal experts say, but they also question the implementation in practice.
NOS news (Dutch Broadcasting) explains how much of deforestation can be detected from space. The Laboratory of Geo-information Science and Remote Sensing at the University of Wageningen developed a satellite based system that can detect illegal forest harvesting within days, right through cloud cover.
