Dr. Tarek Alskaif contributes to EU-Led Strategic Position Paper on AI and GenAI in Smart Grids

Dr.ir. Tarek Alskaif has co-authored a Strategic Position Paper, "Unlocking the Potential of AI and GenAI in European Smart Energy Grids", led by the European Technology and Innovation Platform for Smart Networks for Energy Transition (ETIP SNET).

This timely paper explores how Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Generative AI (GenAI) can accelerate Europe’s transition to a decarbonized, digitalized, and resilient energy system. As smart grids become critical infrastructure, the paper outlines the opportunities and challenges AI brings to managing complex energy networks efficiently and securely.

Developed in close collaboration with leading international experts and under the guidance of the European Commission, this paper offers strategic recommendations to guide R&D, policy, and industrial action in the coming decade. It also marks a significant step in uniting stakeholders to shape a future-proof, intelligent, and competitive European energy system.
