We are happy to announce that the Dutch universities and the Springer publishing group have reached an agreement. The agreement concerns subscription fees and Open Access of Dutch publications for the coming years.

In the negotiations with large publishers Open Access to publications from Dutch universities has been the key topic this year. As we wrote on 5 November the negotiations between the universities and Elsevier came to a halt.

The universities have reached an agreement with Springer, the second largest publisher in the world about a so-called 'Big Deal' (online access to all Springer journals) and Open Access. The Open Access applies to all publications by researchers from Dutch universities. More details can be found in the press releases of the VSNU (Association of universities in the Netherlands) and Springer.
