On December 10, 2024, Wageningen University successfully hosted its annual Teachers' Day at the Orion building. The event celebrated educators' contributions, explored innovative teaching methods, and sparked meaningful discussions.

As part of the event, our research team, including Omid Noroozi, Seyyed Kazem Banihashem, Perry den Brok, Harm J.A. Biemans, and Nafiseh Taghizadeh Kerman, presented our work titled "Generative AI: Teachers' Experiences and Perceptions" which was founded by 4TU.CEE. During the presentation, we shared preliminary findings on WUR teachers' AI literacy, their awareness of institutional support, and their experiences with GenAI tools. These findings offer valuable insights into how educators engage with generative AI in their teaching practices. The key findings include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • While teachers perceive themselves as ethically aware of AI, many lack confidence in applying this awareness.
  • Teachers remain somewhat skeptical about generative AI (GenAI) tools, despite finding them easy to use and potentially useful.
  • Male teachers excelled in cognitive and behavioral aspects of AI literacy, while female teachers led in ethical literacy.
  • There is a need for further support regarding the awareness of institutional support for GenAI.
  • These findings emphasize the critical need for enhanced institutional support and strategies to increase confidence and practical engagement with GenAI in education.

Further details about this study and also students’ AI literacy, awareness of institutional support, and their experiences with GenAI tool will be shared through link.
