Hello everyone, my name is Mellany van Bommel. Since September 1st, I have started as a new junior researcher at HSO. In the coming years, I will be working on the project ‘We are the neighbourhood’.

I am very excited to be working on this project, which focuses on how citizen initiatives that contribute to a healthy living environment can be properly supported and facilitated by municipalities. Three neighbourhoods in the municipalities of Arnhem, Ede and Wageningen are included in this project. I am looking forward to working with the partnering organisations, citizens and my new colleagues at HSO of course!

Last August, I graduated with a master’s degree in Communication, Health and Life Sciences (specialisation Health & Society) at Wageningen University. I did the bachelor’s programme Health and Society here as well. During my studies, the recurring theme that interested me was the interaction between health and the environment surrounding people. Therefore, I also really enjoyed writing my thesis with the PARTIGAN project at HSO. Now, I am very excited to be part of the HSO team and to develop myself as a researcher.

In my spare time, I like doing sports as swimming, running and longboarding, enjoying nature, reading books, going on a hike, and many more things! If you would like to know more about me, feel free to contact me!

I am looking forward to meeting you soon!
