The Land Cover Project Office of the Global Observation of Forest and Land Cover Dynamics (GOFC-GOLD LC Office) together with the R&D Coordination component of the Global Forest Observations Initiative (GFOI R&D), and the Netherlands Space Office will organise a Science meeting in The Hague from 31st October to 4th November.

On 2nd November the policy workshop “Space for Sustainable Development: The role of Global Land Monitoring” will aim to 1) demonstrate how key Earth observation data is to monitor progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), and 2) discuss with key partners and stakeholders how the GOFC-GOLD LC office can achieve a closer alignment with their forest and land use monitoring needs. Discussions will focus on current gaps, emerging needs, and cross-cutting issues. We will bring together key partners and stakeholders including international organizations such as the World Bank, the FAO and WMO, entities from the private sector, and NGOs. The discussions will be held in the context of the recent Paris Agreement on climate change, and the newly adopted SDGs. The detailed agenda of the sessions and the workshop can be found on the webpage of the Science meeting.
