Roots Guide Project - an interactive guidebook of the Netherlands
An article co-authored by our associate professor in Cultural Geography Meghann Ormond was published in the Journal of Sustainable Tourism: ‘Beyond multicultural “tolerance”: guided tours and guidebooks as transformative tools for civic learning’.
The article is part of the Roots Guide project (https://www.instagram.com/rootsguide); a participatory action research project where diverse people with migration backgrounds are creating an interactive guidebook of the Netherlands. The book and educational toolkit for this project will be launched before summer 2021. Meghann co-wrote this piece with Francesco Vietti, the founder of Migrantour (http://www.mygrantour.org/). Migrantour is a network of guided walking tours developed, researched and led by people with migration backgrounds in cities around Europe. Meghann will be involved in two Erasmus+ adult learning projects that recently received funding to expand Migrantour into rural areas (Rural Migrantour) and into 3 new European cities (Migrantour Sustainable Routes).
