Successful first edition of the Dutch Nutritional Immunology Conference (DNIC)
On April 24th, the very first Dutch Nutritional Immunology Conference (DNIC) took place in Wageningen. An inspiring event that brought together 150 scientists from universities, research institutes, and industry.
The conference, jointly organized by Wageningen University and Utrecht University, focused on the impact of nutrition on our immune system. This field is gaining increasing attention for its potential to contribute to health and disease prevention. Despite growing interest, knowledge in this area remains scattered across different fields of research, highlighting the need for an event like this to bring researchers together and facilitate the sharing of insights and expertise.
Throughout the day, attendees participated in a diverse program that included lectures by leading experts as well as presentations from early-career researchers and PhD students, selected from over 50 abstract submissions. In addition, a moderated poster session provided further opportunities for discussions and networking.
The DNIC offered not only scientific insights but also a great opportunity to (re)connect, share, and foster new collaborations in the field of nutritional immunology. A promising start to what we hope will become an annual event!
