Curricula within the category Life Sciences score high on the latest Times Higher Education Ranking. Lesser results are shown in the domains of Physical Sciences and Social Sciences. There are 1512 universities in the influential ranking, 522 more than last year.

Times Higher Education publishes two rankings per year: a general ranking (World University Rankings) and a ranking that takes into account the different domains (THE ranking by subject). The latter has just been released and shows an improved score for WUR compared to last year’s ranking in the domain of Life Sciences. WUR jumped from a 20th to 18th position. In the fields of Clinical and Health (84th) and Engineering and Technology (97th), WUR-curricula have also risen on the list.

Physical Sciences (64th) and Social Sciences (71st) did not do as well. WUR dropped a few places. Wageningen University & Research scores within the global top 100 in the domains of Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Clinical and Health and Social Sciences.

Indicators

The THE ranking is based on 13 indicators such as educational environment, the scope and reputation of research, influence of science through citations, internationality of the research, staff and students, and the degree of knowledge transfer to industry and society. This ranking is based mainly in the same indicators used for the THE World University Rankings, the other annual ranking. In that list, Wageningen came out first among the Dutch universities.
