Until 31 December 2022, you can access Doing Research Online. This new methodology collection has been designed to support social science students and researchers who are conducting research online. Let us know if you think this is a useful resource by filling in the poll!

Doing Research Online

Whether conducting your first or your hundredth research study online, 'Doing Research Online' offers information and tools for a variety of digital research methods. From online surveys and interviews to digital ethnography, social media and web text analysis. Multimedia content, including videos, case studies, and practical how-to-guides, cover all the main research steps, from defining a research topic to analysing digital data. Privacy and other ethical considerations specific to conducting research online are also covered.

Sage Research Methods

'Doing Research Online' is part of the Sage Research Methods collection, to which the Library subscribes. You can explore methods and concepts to design research projects, understand particular methods or identify a new method to conduct your research and to write up your findings. Since SAGE Research Methods focuses on methodology rather than disciplines, it can be used across the social sciences, health sciences, and other research areas.
