Unveiling diet and food environment challenges for Vietnamese adolescents

Food environments are rapidly changing in low- and middle-income countries posing complex challenges. Research on the food environment, the space between food production, storage, and transportation and consumption, is a relatively new area. There are numerous frameworks, typologies and metrics that make it hard to understand what the food environment is and why it matters for research, programs, and policies.

On March 13, 2024, around 40 nutrition staff from the National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) in Viet Nam attended a seminar to learn about food environment research and to discuss preliminary results from a study conducted by the CGIAR Research Initiative on Sustainable Healthy Diets through Food Systems Transformation (SHiFT) in Viet Nam.
