Wageningen rises five steps on world universities ranking

Wageningen University & Research has risen five steps at the Times Higher Education World University Rankings and holds #59 now. In the national rankings WUR rose from a third place to position 2. More than 1250 knowledge institutions were ranked worldwide.

The Times Higher Education World Universities Ranking is a leading world ranking, which counts 1258 universities on all continents. For the Netherlands, the list is headed by TU Delft (from 63 to 58). Other high-ranking Dutch universities dropped a few places, such as Utrecht (from 68 to 74) and the University of Amsterdam (from 59 to 62).

WUR has risen on the topics education, scientific citations and international perspective of the institution. At the top of the world ranking is the University of Oxford, followed by Cambridge (both GB) and Standford University (USA). ETH Zurich is the first non-Anglo-Saxon institution in the list, ranked 11.

The THE rankings assess world-class universities on 13 indicators, divided into 5 differently judged groups: education (30%), research (30%), citations (30%), international perspective (7.5%) and income from business (2.5%).

The four technical universities (united in 4TU) remain all in the top 15%.
