WUR and Gebroeders Blokland Ontwikkeling en Bouw BV have signed an agreement for the sale of the former campus on Generaal Foulkesweg in Wageningen. This concerns a site of approximately 11 hectares at De Dreijen, which will be redeveloped into a green, car-free and sustainable residential area in the coming years.

The redevelopment offers a unique opportunity to create a mixed residential area, with space for both social and private rental and owner-occupied housing. In this way, the plan makes an important contribution to the housing challenges facing both the Municipality of Wageningen and the wider Foodvalley region.

The starting points for the plan were drawn up in close cooperation between the Municipality of Wageningen, Wageningen University & Research, Woningstichting Wageningen, and Gebroeders Blokland. These frameworks have since been adopted by the municipal council.

A participation process will be launched in the coming months to actively involve residents, future residents of Wageningen, and other stakeholders in the further planning process. At the same time, work is under way on the urban development plan. The actual realisation of the residential area is planned from the end of 2027 onwards. For more information on the participation process, see the website De Dreije Fase 2.
