Ademola Olayiwola is a PhD researcher at the Environmental Policy Group at Wageningen University. He received his MSc degree in Governance and Regional Integration from the Pan African University, Cameroon. His thesis examined the interactions between environmental change, im/mobilities and conflicts between famers and herders in the Middle Belt region of Nigeria. Ademola's research focuses on environmental and climate change, mobilities, and governance, seeking to study the dynamics between climate chnage and human mobilities in  Africa. In particular, his PhD project on environmental change-related mobility in the West African borderlands intends to explore how climate change impacts is shaping human movements within and around the border region, and the role that border politics as well as social and cultural histories of mobility play in these dynamics. 

Ademola's research interest draws from internship period at the Department of Peace and Security at African Union Commission in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and the Organization for World Peace in Cameroon. In the past five years, he has gained relevant expereince on climate change-migration nexus, as well as the movements of conflict affected populations across national borders in the Sahel region.
