AJ (Arno) Timmer MSc
DocentArno Timmer holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences (Soil, Water, Atmosphere) and a master’s degree in Geo-Information Science and Remote Sensing, both from Wageningen University. After graduating in 2018, he worked for one of the most renowned Geo-IT companies in the Netherlands, applying his knowledge to a wide range of projects, where he further developed his technical and collaborative skills.
Some highlights include upscaling existing data pipelines (3D/LiDAR) for large-scale cloud computing, ensuring stable data services and viewers for the Ministry of Defense, and processing large volumes of data for multiple governmental organizations.
In 2021, he began working as a lecturer, where he uses his practical experience to teach a variety of courses—mainly Geoscripting, Geo-Information Tools, Smart Environments, Spatial and Temporal Analysis for Earth and Environment, Spatial Modeling and Statistics. He has supervised master’s theses on topics such as spatiotemporal dynamics in historical knowledge discovery and ecological habitat analysis. His research interests are broad and pertain to the field of spatial analysis, with a special interest in applying methods in a collaborative setting.
