Bipul Dey was born on March 10, 1990, in Bangladesh. He completed his higher secondary education in 2007, followed by a Bachelor's and later a Master's degree in Fisheries (2015) from Bangladesh. His MSc research focused on enhancing the immunity of Nile tilapia against Pseudomonas fluorescens infections through dietary phytogenic feed additives. During his BSc and MSc studies in Bangladesh, he contributed to multiple developmental projects under WorldFish-Bangladesh. He also had a brief stint at a shrimp hatchery, where he was responsible for managing water quality, maintaining stock cultures of live feed (rotifer, microalgae, Artemia), their mass culture, and enrichment. In late 2015, he was awarded a VLIR-UOS scholarship to pursue an MSc in Aquaculture at Ghent University, Belgium. His MSc thesis investigated the control of Acute Hepatopancreatic Necrosis Disease (AHPND) in shrimp caused by Vibrio parahaemolyticus MO904 using a bioactive compound to inhibit bacterial virulence. His research was recognized as the best MSc thesis in Aquaculture for the academic year by INVAE AQUACULTURE, Belgium, and earned him the INVAE Prize 2017. In 2020, he received a grant to pursue a PhD in Aquaculture Nutrition with a specialization in Fish Bioenergetics. His PhD project was conducted in collaboration with the Aquaculture and Fisheries Group of Wageningen University & Research, WorldFish (Malaysia), and De Heus Animal Nutrition BV (The Netherlands). During his PhD, he was honored with the Best Presentation Award at the International Symposium on Fish Nutrition and Feeding (Italy, 2022). Throughout his academic career, he has published several peer-reviewed scientific papers, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in aquaculture and fish nutrition.
