CJA (Corine) van Huissteden MSc
ResearcherAfter a BSc Biology and MSc Forest & Nature Conservation at WUR, I tried a number of jobs (after-school science lessons at primary schools, supporting Greenpeace's sustainable agriculture campaign, and delivering mail with Sandd), but in the end I liked assisting my father Ko van Huissteden with his research work into greenhouse gases in peatlands the most. Together we founded a partnership with which we take measurements at various locations with our self-built flux chambers. We thus contributed, among other things, to the IPV, and thus automatically became part of the NOBV. I maintained the NOBV fields of the VU and was also deployed by B-ware for their sampling. In 2021, I became employed at the VU because it saved a lot of administrative hassle and I could also start building up a pension. After 5 years of dedicated work, it was time for a new challenge, so I ended up back at my beloved WUR. I can still do some of my old trusted maintenance work, but now I also work on the EC towers together with Wilma Jans. So I am officially a "researcher" but mainly do a lot of technical support.
