Cristina is a PhD student working in the EU project REALM Algae. This project is a collaborative work between Bio Process Engineer and Plant Physiology at WUR, which aims to efficiently grow microalgae in drain water from soilless agriculture to developing sustainable high-value products. Cristina’s research project focuses on finding microalgae strains suitable for developing plant biostimulants, then optimizing the extraction of their bioactive components and finally understand the effect of this molecules in valuable crops under abiotic stresses. With this project, she aims to increase sustainability in agriculture by using renewable biomass as source of plant nutrition and stress mitigation.
