Francesca Rubiconto is a postdoctoral researcher in the Urban Economics group at Wageningen University and Research and a doctoral researcher at the United Nations University - Maastricht Economic and Social Research Institute on Innovation and Technology. She conducted her studies in Humanities and Media studies, Economics of International Markets and International Business and Economics at the University of Milan and the University of Pavia, where she graduated summa cum laude.

Francesca Rubiconto has an extensive teaching experience in collaborative and problem-based learning at Maastricht University School of Business and Economics, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Maastricht Graduate School of Governance and United Nations University - MERIT.

Her main research approach is modelling, simulation and empirical calibration using input-output systems. In particular, Francesca investigates the effects of environmental innovation combining insights from environmental economics, macroeconomics, technical change and industrial dynamics. She is currently exploring these effects in the context of building sustainable and resilient cities and greening food supply chains.
