Sustainable Healthy Diets Through Food Systems Transformation (SHiFT) aiming to identify transformative innovations and policies, and strengthen stakeholders’ capacity to guide decision-making toward food system transformations that support and enable consumption of sustainable healthy diets for all, while improving livelihoods, income, gender equity, and social inclusiveness.
Increasing fruit and vegetable intake of low-income populations in Vietnam and Nigeria through food system innovations (2018-2021) BMGF
Overall Principle Investigator of the reseach programme, in collaboration with CIAT, Bioversity International, IFPRI and University of Ibandan (Nigeria) and National Nutrition Institute (NIN), Hanoi Medical School and Rikolto (Vietnam). The project is acrried out inrial, peri-urban and urban areas and consists of 3 interelated demand-side interventions addressing accessibility, affordabilityand acceptability of fruits and vegetables.
Food systems for healthier diets, Flagship research programme within CRP A4NH, CGIAR (2017 – 2021)
Flagship Leader responsible for the coordination of the research programme carried out in 4 focus countries (Ethiopia, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Vietnam) in collaboration with 5 CGIAR institutes.
Improved nutrition through staple food crops in Sub-Saharan Africa (INSTAPA) (2008 – 2013) EU FP7
Overall coordinator of the research programme comprising 7 workpackages. Co-supervisor of a randomized controlled trial studying the effect of daily consumption of biofortified yellow cassava on vitamin A status and immune function of Kenyan school children in one of the workpackages.
