Iris van Damme (Msc) is PhD candidate at the Division of Human Nutrition, Wageningen University. She obtained her Bsc and Msc degree in Wageningen, and did part of her Master program at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm. During her master thesis project, she investigated the association between chronotype, diet composition and alertness in night shift working nurses. Before graduating in March 2019, she wrote a research proposal for a study on preoperative weight loss strategies for the division of bariatric surgery at Rijnstate Hospital (Arnhem). Since June 2019 she is main researcher for developing the new dietary guidelines for diabetes patients, in collaboration with the Netherlands Diabetes Federation (NDF). She is currently member of an NDF working group focused on the implementaion of the dietary guideline. In October 2019, she started her PhD project in which she will further investigate the relation between nutrition and diabetes
